PROPER OIL STORAGE GUIDELINES
FEIBI LUBRICANTS PROPER OIL STORAGE GUIDELINES
Maximizing Shelf Life & Maintaining Performance
1. UNOPENED CONTAINER STORAGE
Ideal Conditions
✅ Temperature: 5°C to 30°C (41°F to 86°F)
✅ Humidity: <70% RH
✅ Light: Keep in dark place (UV degrades additives)
✅ Position: Store upright with cap facing upward
Shelf Life
Container Type |
Maximum Duration |
Sealed 1L/5L bottles |
5 years |
Drums (20L+) |
3 years |
Bulk tanks (1000L+) |
2 years |
Note: Date of manufacture printed in YY-MM-DD format on bottom (e.g., 24-07-15 = July 15, 2024)
2. OPENED CONTAINER STORAGE
Best Practices
✔ Reseal Immediately: Use original cap + aluminum foil liner
✔ Smaller Containers: Transfer from drums to 5L jugs to limit air exposure
✔ Usage Priority: "First In, First Out" (FIFO) system
Usage Window
Oil Type |
After Opening |
Conventional |
6 months |
Synthetic |
12 months |
Racing Oil |
3 months |
3. SPECIALTY OIL HANDLING
FEIBI Black Edition (German-Made)
Requires nitrogen blanket if >50% remains in container
Always store at 15-25°C (precise additive balance)
FEIBI E-Fluid (EV Thermal Oil)
Hygroscopic: Must keep in moisture-proof containers
Use desiccant plugs in storage tanks
4. WINTER/SUMMER STORAGE TIPS
Season |
Action |
Winter (<0°C) |
- Prevent freezing - Rotate stock monthly |
Summer (>30°C) |
- Store underground/palletized - Avoid direct concrete contact |
5. CONTAMINATION PREVENTION
Prohibited Practices
❌ Transferring oil with dirty funnels
❌ Storing near chemicals/solvents
❌ Using galvanized containers (zinc reacts with additives)
Cleanliness Standards
ISO 4406: Maintain ≤16/14/11 cleanliness code
Filter All Transfers: 10µm absolute filter
6. DISPOSAL OF EXPIRED OIL
Never mix with fresh oil
Recycling Protocol:
1. Contact FEIBI-approved recyclers
2. Use UN-certified containers (blue HDPE only)
3. Label clearly: "Used Lubricant - Do Not Reuse"
7. EMERGENCY LEAK RESPONSE
Small Spills (<1L):
1. Absorb with oil-only pads
2. Dispose as hazardous waste
Large Spills:
1. Contain with spill berm
2. Call FEIBI EHS Hotline: +(0049) 21188250-0
